Our Services

Suffolk Music Therapy Services aims to provide high quality music therapy to children and adults across East Anglia.  Suffolk Music Therapy Services is the lead provider of music therapy in Suffolk.  It also works to increase knowledge and awareness of the benefits of music through teaching and workshops.

Suffolk Music Therapy Services has a special interest in providing music therapy in schools and carehomes.  Suffolk Music Therapy Services may also help to introduce and set-up a music therapy post within an organisation.  Some settings may 'buy-in' music therapy from the service.  The service has links with various organisations throughout East Anglia.  Suffolk Music Therapy Service therapists work to the highest clinical, ethical and professional standards.  This is ensured in a number of ways: 

• All of our therapists are state registered and are members of their professional body, the British Association of Music Therapy (BAMT).
• All of our therapists are registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)
• Therapists receive regular clinical supervision by an experienced therapist and undertake continuing professional development.
• There is close liaison between therapist, headteacher, staff and parents of children receiving music therapy in schools.
• All music therapists have DBS checks.
• Music therapy work is evaluated on an ongoing basis.  Carers, staff, parents, patients, children and adults are involved in this process.

An organisation can purchase one or more days of music therapy per week.  Purchasers of the Suffolk Music Therapy Service will need to be able to provide a room for music therapy sessions to take place and a selection of good quality musical instruments.  Suffolk Music Therapy services may be able to provide some of the essential instruments required.  The Senior Music Therapist will advise your organisation on all aspects of establishing music therapy.
